Frequently Asked Questions
We are a community based organisation (CBO) that aims to create access for underprivileged youth to the opportunities of digitalisation.
In Kiswahili, “Kua” means “to be”. So translated into English, the name means “Be Digital” which is what the organisation is all about. Another meaning of the word Kua is to go beyond. That represents the motivation of the founding members, go beyond to create opportunities for those who are not seen and whose voices are not heard by many.
We are registered in Ngong and call it home. Our partner projects are located there as well but we don’t like to limit ourselves. If you have an interesting project that is in Nairobi, we should find a way to make things work.
Our vision is to change the lives of the less privileged youth by making the most out of the opportunities’ digitalisation presents.
Our mission is to teach the participants vital computer skills which enable them to compete for a wide field of jobs.
Creating livelihoods for underprivileged youth by providing access to education on topics in the digital domain, computer literacy, life skills and skills that help to start a career.
We mainly focus on young people who graduated from secondary schools but didn’t get the chance to continue formal education in university or college because we want to show them an alternative way of learning, helping to expand their knowledge and assist them in finding their way into a professional career.
We believe that the opportunity to have access to quality education should not be related to one’s financial situation. Because of this our partner organisations are not paying for the classes and our students attend them free of charge.
Yes, it is very much possible. If you are running a project that supports underprivileged youth and you feel like our computer courses would be beneficial, please get in touch with us. If you are interested in supporting Kua Digital, kindly get in touch with us as well.
Your project does not need to have laptops or mice. It would be good if you had a place that allows concentrated learning. A small hall can do just as fine as a bigger office or any other room that has some chairs and tables. There should be electricity and best-case Wi-Fi.
We are glad that you are interested in supporting us. There are many ways how you can. You could either help us with a donation, with your time in the form of voluntary work, partner with us, support us by following us on Social Media or create awareness about our organisation by talking with friends and family about us.
